Mails close at tlie Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to necessary alterations) as under:— SATURDAY, DECEMBER 20. flt'For Akaroa and Otago, per Penguin, at 11.15 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.25 a.m.; guard's ran, 12.10 p..m. train. For Westport, Jackson's Bay, and Martin’s Bay, per Maori, at 1.50 p.ra.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Wauaka, nt 7 p.m. The guard’s van must not bo used for this mail. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 21. For Australian Colonics, per express tniu to] connect with s.s. Arawata at Port Chalmers, at 7.30 a.m. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will bo closed at Cbristcbnrch on January 3rd, and will be due in London on February 17th. 1880. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi, will be dosed at Christchurch on January 16th, and will be due in Loudon on March Ith. SYDNEY J. DICK. Chief Postmaster.
