CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB.
A general meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club was held yesterday afternoon, when there were present—Mr Lance (chairman), the Hon. William Robinson, Dr. Prankish, Messrs Neilson, Wynn Williams, Delamain, Kimbell, Egan, and Griffiths. A letter was received from Mr Peroival, secretary to the Auckland Racing Club, notifying the removal of the disqualifl- • ition from Owen C. McGee, and the Canterbury Jockey Club decided to do the sam?. A letter of acknowledgment was re from Colonel Packe, thanking the club for granting the use of the course for the volunteer review. An application from Wm. McKay to have his disqualification removed was refused. Several letters were received requesting permission to use the tolalisator on the course at the autumn meeting, but they had to stand over, as totalisators are not at present legalised. The consideration of the autumn programme was then proceeded with. The following stewards were elected Dr. Prins, Messrs Wynn Williams, J. Studholme, Kimbell, S. Walker, and Delamain. Officers were appointed as follows :—M. Studholme, judge ; J. Campbell, starter; E. W. Millett, clerk of the course ; S. Garforth, clerk of the scales. The days of meeting were fixed for Easter Tuesday and the following day, and the draft programme brought up by the committee was adopted. The chairman raised the question of publishing the O. J. O. Spring Handicap with the autumn programme, so as. to keep it before the public, and by that means to increase the popularity of that meeting. The suggestion was generally concurred in. After the transaction of some formal business the meeting adjourned.
