MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. TnUBSDAY, Dbcbmbeb 18. [Before G. L. Hellish, Esq., R.M.j Yiolbht Assault.—Chin Kong was charged with violently assaulting Ah Ghee with intent to do him grevious bodily harm. Mr Neck appeared for the accused. In the absence of Mr Joyce, who was retained for the prosecutor, the hearing of the case was adjourned for twenty-four hours. Bkceitie& Stolen Goods. Robert Painter was charged with receiving stolen goods, knowing the same to be stolen. Mr Izard appearrd for the accused. The case remanded until the 24th inst. LYTTELTON. Thuesday, Dechmbbe 19. Lahcbny.—Antonio Hima and William Merritt alias Thompson were charged with stealing boots, the property of W. Young. Sergeant O’Gtady said one of accused had only just been arrested, and asked fqr a reman! until 19th inst., which was granted.
