POST OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at tho Chief Post Office for tho following places (subject to necessary alterations) as under:— TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16. Per Northern Ports, per Wellington, at 7 p.m. Tho gnard’s van must not bo used for this mail. For Otago, per Rotorna. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18. For tho United Kingdom, via Brindisi and Southampton (for correspondence addressed per either of these routes only), Continent of Europe, India, Africa, Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, and Otago, &c., per express train to tho Bluff (to connect with s.s. Rotorna), as follows: Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m. Books and newspapers, at G a.m. Registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Money orders, at 4 j.to. on Wednesday. Late foe letters may be posted in tho Post Office van attached to tho express train on tho 18th instant. Tho mail via Brindisi will ho duo in London on February 9th, and tho mail via Southampton on February 16th, 1880. Tho next mail for tho United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will bo closed at Christchurch on January 3rd, and will be duo in London on February 17th, 1880. SYDNEY J. DICK. Chief Postmaster.
