CO-OPERATIVE LAND, LABOR, AND STORE COMPANY.
A meeting was hold on Monday night ot Montreal street south to explain and enroll members of this society. There was a large attendance, and those present were unanimous in requiring a deputation to Wellington to obtain an immediate grant of the Waimate Plains between Opunake and the Waingongoro to the company as a block for a apecial| settlement. Tho committee have ordered delegates to proceed by tho Arawata to Wellington in order to interview the representatives for the district, and endeavor to amalgamate with the Wellington Small Farms Association, and also to procure the land for tho company. The company now muster 500 heads of families in this district, in nil about 3000 souls, and as soon as tho grant is obtained, they will close the share list, allot the shares, and register the company under limited liability. Further meetings will bo held this week to bo advertised. Meantime the secretary is in correspondence with Auckland, Dunedin, Weka Pass, Wellington, Ashburton, Ac., to absorb all the ablebodied unemployed in tho whole ountry.
