SPORTING CASE.

At this Court on Tuesday a Mr Struthers sued the Ashburton Racing Club for £IOO alleged damages suffered by plaintiff, who had purchased the rights of the grand stand and saddling paddock from the club under certain conditions, one of which was that all members of the club were to be admitted free of charge. Mr Struthers refusing to allow certain members of the club to go up on the stand, was, after repeated remonstrances, removed by members of the club, and warned not to take any money. In consequence of this, Struthers sought to recover damages to the amount named. The case attracted great attention, Mr Joyce appearing for plaintiffs and Mr Branson for defendants. The defence was sustained by the Bench, who, however, fined two of the defendants who removed Struthers 5s each, each party to pay their own costs. ANNIVERSARY SPORTS.
