The brig Emily, Captain Sutherland, arrived from Newcastle, whence she sailed November 13th. | First day had light easterly wind, and then for three days strong S.S.W. wind, with very heavy sea running. Very unsettled weather the whole of the way to making Farewell, the barometer keeping very low. From Farewell, through the Straits and down the coast, had very unsettled weather. The barque Star of India, Captain H. D. Koe, arrived yesterday morning from Newcastle, having sailed from there on the 11th current. For the first three days she met with fine weather, then heavy thunder and lightning with wholesale showers of rain,'which ended in a strong sontherly gale lasting two days. Sighted the land about Capo Farewell on the 2lst. Thou fell into baffling airs and calms rounding the Cape on the 23rd, light airs and calms continued to passing Stephen s Island, when a breeze from the N.W. carried the ship through the Straits to Knikoura. where it fell calm for sovoral hours. A light S.W. wind sprang up hauling gradually to the N.E, a gentle breeze. Sighted Godloy Head light at 9 p.m. on Wednesday and had calms and baffling airs to 5 a.m. yesterday, when Pilot Galbraith boarded the vessel. Experienced an extraordinary low barometer for trie last ten days, the glass never having boon over 29.50, mostly ranging from 29.10 to 2950. The schooner Wave of life. Captain Horbort. arrived yesterday fr.»mKai para, having left last Friday. Northerly winds carried the vessel to Cape Egmont on Saturday, then a S E. wind, and light variable winds to Stephen's Island : on Monday was in company with the Star of India throngh the straits ; passed Cape Campbell same day. then northerly to Kaikoura, and light winds to port. Sighted sixteen vessels, large aud small, «ff Kaikoura. The s.s. Wnnaka leaves for Wellington and North to-morrow, and the s.s. Eotomahana for Port Chalmers.
