PARLIAMENTARY ITEMS.
fßr Telegeapii.] WELLINGTON, November 22. The two last nights in the House have been of the most rowdy character. Last night Sir G. Grey marshalled his forces to resist the consideration of the estimates, but after more than eight hours’ stonewalling had to give in with a considerable loss of reputation with his own supporters. Finding his followers lessening and divided amongst themselves, he tried to rally them by a violent speech at two o’clock this morning, but it was quite a failure, did not produce a cheer and was evidently not approved by any member of his own side, except perhaps Messrs Lundon and Shrimski. As hardly anything was said by the supporters of the Government, and nothing whatever of a violent or personal character, the Greyites were left to bespatter each other, which they did to their heart’s content. Mr Halland Sir G. Grey both disappeared after three o’clock, and Messrs Hamlin, Turnbull, Speight, Hielop, Lundon and Scddon were the principal actors.
