CHBISTOHUBOH. Tuesday, Notbmbbe 18. [Before G. L. Mellish, Esq., B.M.] A Disgusting Eeixow.—A man named James Philips was charged with conduct calculated to provoke a breach of the peace. Mr Neck for the accused. An intelligent girl, aged fifteen years, deposed that the accused, who was in a state of intoxication, did on the previous afternoon offer her three sovereigns if she would accompany him up the right of way leading to the kitchen of Coker's Hotel, in Manchester street. She was frightened, and ran away. A boy named Charles Utting, residing in George street, stated to the Bench that the accused the previous afternoon offered him money if he would fetch his sister to him. At the same time he made the most disgusting remark to him which he (witness) had ever heard. Sergeant Morice having given evidence of the arrest of the accused, Mr Mellish said he had no doubt of the disgraceful nature of his conduct, for which he should fine him £5.
