MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Thitesdat, Novembbe 13. [Before F. do o. Malet."j Deunk and Disobdeeiy,—A first offender was fined ss. Dibohdeely Conduct. —Hohard Sparks was fined 10s for riotous conduct on the proceeding evening in the bar of the Rotherfiield Hotel. Ho was also ordered to pay 10a 6d, the cost of repairing the damage done to one of the doors. Indecent Exposijbe.—John Ellison wag fined 30a for drunkenness and indecent exposure. Lakceny.—Robert Harris was charged with stealing a silver guard chain from Alfred Corbin. The accused was remanded until Saturday, the 15th inst. Walter Coombs was charged with larceny from a dwelling-house. The value of the things amounted to £3, and were the property of George Wilson. Mr Neck for lha accused. Sergeant Moriee stated that the accused accounted for the stolon property by stating it had been given to him to dispose of, by a man now in custody in Dunedin for obtaining money by means of a valueless cheque. This man would have to be identified and brought to Christchurch before the truth of the accused’s statement could be ascertained. There was nothing known against the accused, who was employed at the theatre as a chorus singer, and it was quite possible he had become possessed of the property he was charged with stealing in the manner he had stated. Under the circumstances the accused waslremanded for a week, to be brought up sooner if necessary. Bail was allowed, the accused in £4O, and one surety in £2O,
