Plaisanto was fourth, with My Jessie and Belphcebo next. The Habtikoton Plate (handicap) of 500 sovs; winners extra, T.Y.C. (about 5 furlongs, straight. Mr J. E. The fractiousneas of Filibuster and Instantly, but more particularly the former, was the cause of full half an hour’s delay before a really good start was effected,Tower and Sword being the first to show in front, but ho was immediately pulled back, leaving Sunnybrae with a slight advantage of Tower and Sword and Zanoni, the most prominent of the remainder being Lady Blanche, Jupiter, Red Hazard, King Clovis, and Warren Hastings, A long tail was soon formed, and with Sunnybrae in trouble after covering half the journey, Zanoni resumed a slight lead of Tower and Sword, this pair at once drawing themselves clear of field, and a fine race ensued, but the favourite ran very ungenerously, and never getting on terms with Zanoni, was beaten by a neck; Lady Blanche was a very bad third, the others all pulling up in a cluster.

When they had settled down Mask took a clear lead of Glen Ronald, Evasion, Henry George, and the Fern colt, those being on pretty level terms, but after going rather less than a furlong Evasion was pulled back and Zealot joined the front division, as did Beaudesert, who, as they came round the bend, was beaten, as was the Fern colt, and Mask began to come back, and was collared by Glen Ronald 100 yards from home. Simultaneously Evasion came out, and, passing Zealot and Henry George, challenged the leader, whom she bested in the final rally, and won by a neck ; two lengths off Zealot was third, just in advance of George Henry. Geraldine was fifth, then Beaudesert, Mask, In Bounds, The Heir Apparent, and Napabury, the Fern colt and Trierman being last. An objection against the winner on the ground of a cannon was at once overruled. There was a capital start at the first attempt, Attalus showing the way with a slight lead of Carillon ; Parole, Philammon, and Dresden China coming next, while the rear was brought up by Omega, Rylstone, and Gilderoy. When a quarter of a mile had been covered Carillon and Dresden China worked their way to the front, and carried on the running from Reveller, Parole, Kingfisher, and Philammon, while Attalus joined Rylstone and Gilderoy in the background. Thus they went over the hill, but at the mile post Carillon began to fall back, and Philammon improved his position by racing up to Dresden China, the pair soon holding a several lengths lead of Omega, Parole, Reveller, Chippendale, and Carillon, until half a mile from home, when Dresden China took a couple of lengths lead of the Irishman, who soon was passed by Chippendale and Reveller. But directly the bend was made Dresden China dashed away from Chippendale, and, spread-eagling her field, won, pulling up, by thirty lengths. The remainder aa they passed the post were doing the same, Carillon being plhced second, Attalus third; the others going by in the following order, viz. ;—Reveller, Chippendale, Philammon, Gilderoy, Rylstone, Omega, and Parole, Kingfisher being the absolute last.
