NORTHERN AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the council of this association was held at the Road Board office, Raugiora, on Thursday. Present Messrs Parsons, Sansom, M'Gregor, Lilly, Jones, Fulton, MTntyre, Miln, Muloock, Duncan, M'lntosh, Buss (hon. sec.), and M'Farlane, president, in the chair. The secretary reported the arrangements made for the forthcoming show, and the acceptances received from the judges and class stewards. Arrangements had been made for holding the annual ball, and the local brass band had been engaged to perform on the ground. Tho number of entries already received were 334. The entries of dairy produce and implements were expected to be more numerous than usual, and the classes for sheep, .cattle, and horses promised to be as well supplied as last year. The sale of tickets to members bad reached £lll, and if members worked well the success of the show would be brought about. Mr Fulton drew attention to the want of a place for landing stock at the railway station. The secretary stated that the traffic manager had promised the matter should be attended to some time ago, but he was sorry to see it had still been overlooked. Mr Fulton urged the importance of opening Blackett street, and moved that the railway authorities be written to in reference to the street and landing stage. Mr McGregor seconded the proposition, which was agreed to. It was stated that during tho afternoon of Tuesday a Highland piper would probably be on the ground. The chairman hoped that before another year the association would be able to hold its show on a reserve now used as the racecourse. Captain Parsons explained the way In which the reserve was managed, and seated the Mayor of Rangiora would call a meeting to form a Domain Board to manage the reserve, when it might be possible to obtain a portion for show purposes. Mr Jones moved, Mr M'Gregor seconded—“ That Messrs Parsons, Fulton, and Buss wait on the Mayor in reference to the calling of a public meeting to elect a Domain Board.” The meeting then adjourned.
