CRICKET.

UNITED CLUB t WOOLSTON. This match was concluded on Saturday, and ended in an easy win for the United Club. They went first to the wickets, and made 95, Million and E. A. Smith being the highest scorers. Woolston followed with 55, but es they got five of their opponents in the second innings for 21, they hoped; to make a close thing of it. However, the remaining six brought the total to 85, and the Woolston batting again broke down, and they were beaten by 61 runs. Horwood and Sheath were the chief contributors in the second innings, and Sheath’s bowling all through was highly effective. Beaumont, Ho worth, and Davis played well for Woolston. WOOLSTON t. ELLESMERE. A match was played at Leeston on Saturday last between the Second Elevens of the Woolston Cricket Club and the Ellesmere Association. Owing to the visiting team having to leave by the 4 o’clock train, the game had to be decided by the first innings, which resulted in an easy victory for the home team. It is only fair to state that the' Woolston team batted three men short, but were supplied with substitutes in the field. At 12.30 both teams adjourned to Spring’s Hotel, where a capital luncheon was provided. Messrs Hoe and Yeats acted as umpires during the game. The scores were, Ellesmere, 40 and 56, with five wickets to fall; Woolston, 14,

OUST V. COLLEGE. A match between elevens of these clubs was played on Monday, on the ground of the former club. The Cust men went in first, and scored 78 ; Leach putting up 31, and J. Milton 20. The Collegians scored 73, and had two men not out when the game was drawn. On this side Grigg scored 21, and W. Cotterill 16. RICHMOND O. C. v. BOHEMIAN O. O. A match was played on Saturday last between the second eleven of the Richmond and an eleven of the Bohemian Cricket Clubs, which resulted in a victory for the latter by 8 runs. The scores were—Richmond, 41 ; Bohemian, 48. The Richmond had seven wickets down for 35 runs. in their second innings, THE MIDLAND CLUB.
