In spite of arguments backed by figures which demonstrate the impossibility of economically heating a city by steam, a company has been formed in New York, with a capital of nearly a million sterling. Committees for the promotion of Captain Oheyne's Arctic expedition have been formed in Brighton and Hastings. There are now about fifty committees in as many important towns of 'the United Kingdom formed with the object of assisting British exploration of the Polar seas.
