ROAD BOARDS.

AVON. A meeting of the Board was held en Oct. 20lh. Present—The Chairman and Meaßrs Uaclficld, Philpott, and tlunro, when it was resolved that in consequence of the chairman Mid Mv Philpott having to attend at a conference regarding drainage matters, at Sydenham, that this meeting stand adjourned till Wednesday the 22nd instant at 7 o'clock. At the adjourned meeting on 'October 22nd, there were present the chairman and all the members. The minutes of the last meeting wero read and confirmed. The surveyor's report was read and considered. A letter was received from the City Council relative to channelling on North town belt. Tho clerk was instructed to inform them that the Board have a condition on their minutes, that in works of this kind ttay are prepared to find half tho expense. "With regard to the NewBrighton road, tho surveyor was instructed to carry out tho necessary alterations with the labor gang. With regard to drainage complained of by Mr M'Oolrick, tho surveyor was instructed to inßpect and take action in the matter. Requisition was received from inhabitants at Bingsland, asking the Board to widen tho road leading from the North town belt. A letter was received from the poundkeeper, Heathcote, askiDg permisaion of the Board to pound cattle from the Avon district. Resolved that permission be granted on condition that no charge for so doing will be made to the Board, and the Board incurring no responsibility. Mr Bichards was appointed assessor for the district. Accounts i to the amount of £146 53 7d were passed and ordered to be paid.
