SPECIAL TO THE GLOBE.

SECOND EDITION

LONDON, October 2. LIBERAL FETE. At tho Liberal l&t© at Cambridge, Talfourd made a brilliant attack on the Government. THE MARKETS. The tin market is firm with hardening prices, the current quotation being 755. The current DuteL sales show an adadvance. October 3. THE EASTERN QUESTION. The Sultan, is stated as being desirous of an alliance with Austria. IRELAND. Agrarian outrages are on the increase* [PKU PBESS AGENCY.] WELLINGTON, October 4. The Stella is now laid up for repairs. Political. The "New Zealandor" this morning says, " Sir George Grey must reconstruct his Ministry. He will do this, at least we venture to think so, and do it well. His politico! opponents accuse him of an overpowering desire for autocratic power. The present is a signal opportunity to prove that his political ideas and aspirations are comprehensive and margined by no promptings and personal sway. He has in his Ministry good men, but some of them might well, in conservation of Ministerial political action, make way for successors who, coming over from the other Bide, would bring new ideas, new energies and views, and whose appointment te office would propitiate popular favour." In another part of tho paper it says: " The battle is not yet over and the victory promises to be a short-lived one."

LATER. Re the "New Zealunder'a" charges against Mr Sail it ia the old " stop thief cry" by the thief himself. Tamoara has never wavered for a moment in his allegiance to the Opposition, and was at his election opposed by all the power the Native Minister could bring against him, bo that there was nerer any temptation to tamper with a man who is quite as strongly opposed to Sir Goo. Grey as Mr Hall is himself, and is a fine manly specimen of his raoe. Te Wheoro had all through promised Tamoano that he wenld vote against the Ministry, and evidently was most unwilling to vote for them, as, with all the Government pressure put on him, he absented himself fiotn the House when the division bell rang, and the zealous Mr Hamlin nearly lost his own vote in hunting him up, and came into the door with him just before it was locked amidst the spontaneous, though not over-judicious, cheers of the Ministerialists in the " Noes" lobby.

It is reported that Sir G. Grey is to be asked by his party to resign, and that the Governor is to be recommended to send for Mr Macandrew.

[fbom ottb own cobeespondent.] A caucus of Government supporters was held at eleven o'clock to-day in the Ministerial room behind the chamber, Sir G. Grey in the chair. Forty-two were preeent, and the following resolution wqb unanimously passed:—" That the members present are determined to take all steps necessary to preserve the Liberal party, and will resist a coalition, and that they now adjourn till Monday, at eleven o'clock, to enable the Ministry to consider further what action Bhall be taken." The greatest unanimity prevailed.
