Operations are to be commenced shortly, and the venturers ore sanguine of success. The position of the vessel has undergone littlo or no change, and Captain Farquhar was able, on Wednesday last, to walk through the cabin and over the lower deck, dry shod, at low water. A providential rescue of two castaways is mentioned in a recent number of “ Mitchell’s Maritime Register,’* which states that a vessel arrived at Cardiff on June 18th with two French seamen, brothers, on hoard. They had been picked up in an open boat in mid-Atlantic. They belonged to the schooner Amelie Marie, of St. Pierre. When their vessel was on the coast of Newfoundland they went out fishing in a boat. A fog came on, and they lost their ship. They had been eight days at sea when picked up. and were exhausted from hunger and cold. Both were terribly emaciated and unable to stand. ENGLISH SHIPPING.
