Wakatipn arrived from Port Ohalmew this morning, and sails to-day for Sydney i-a Weisteamer Stella came up the harbor last night from a lighthouse cruise, and tcday, after loading the apparatus and lantern for the Akaroa lighthouse and about forty tons coal, will leave for Akaroa and Wellington. »«.„♦ Some surprise was felt yesterday at the fact that the barque Bells, which left here in tow of the s.s. Arawata, on Saturday night, had put in to Akaroa and was at anchor there, the Arawata having gone on to Port Chalmers without her. It appears that Tessel when outside was found to be insufficiently ballasted, and became unmanageable. Ihe two hawsers parted, and it was determined to put m to Akaroa until stronger lines could beobtavned with which to proceed to Dunedin The Bells has Buffered no injury, and was be quite safe at anchor and making but little water.
