TAWHIAO’S LATEST CLAIM.

AUCKLAND, September 17. Edgecombe, a surveyor, who has been engaged surveying near Waikare Lake, reporti that on Saturday some Natives told him not to continue, as the Maori king’s orders were that no more roads and surveyors would be permitted. On the surveyor protesting that tho land was within the Aukati, the Natives said that tho Aukati lines were now abolished, and that Tawhiao now claims the whole island. Mr Edgecombe has sines made an offer to one of the Natives if ho will hslp in tho survey. Ho accepted, but afterwards tho Natives left to hold a consultation at Waikare, The laud belonged to Government, and the proceedings of the Natives little regarded, as they are few in number and very friendly.
