MISCELLANEOUS ELECTION ITEMS.
[Bt Tblhqbaph.] TIMARU, September 3. Mr Wakefield obtained an unanimous vote of confidence at Kakahii on Tuesday night, and at Waitohi to-night. ! Tho nomination for Geraldine takes ;place to-morrow. It is not thought that Mr Feldwick has the slightest chance, especially after his defeat at Inverrargill. ' WELLINGTON, September 3. The city elections are being worked up in a scientific manner by all the candidates. Messrs Levin and Hunter are now the favourites, and £lO to £5 was given and taken last'night that Mr Hutchison would be at the bottom of the poll. The so-called " Great Liberal Party " are inlvery serious dread that Mr Hutchison will bo* defeated, and their organ and advocates urge the eleotors to plump for Mr Hutchi•on. The great hulk of the eleotors of Wellington, especially those who take an intelligent interest in politics, are opposed to the Grey Government, and- the chief qualification looked for in a candidate Is that he should be opposed to Bir G. Grey. The watchword is ** we.must get rid of Grey and his rule."
