TO THE CITIZENS OF THE SOUTH BAST WARD OF CHRISTOHURCH. fi ENTIEMEN,—At the last general election you distinguished me by reposing your confidence and returning me to your Municipal Council. Since that period I have endeavored, by a strict attention to duty and a conßolentiona exercise of the powers and authorities conveyed, to prove myself worthy of the honor then bestowed. During the past year the difficulties of a member of your Council have been of & somewhat arduous and trying character, nevertheless I have sought to the best of my ability to forward your interests, and maintain the reputation of the City. As Christohurch has now been divided into Wards, I am precluded from offering myself again to the whole constituency by whom I was orginially returned. "In seeking a renewal of confidence I have thought it right to appeal to the ratepayers In that portion of the City in which I reside, and with which my interests are most closely associated, and I can only say that, if you do me the honor to again return me to the City Council, I shall strive to advance the City as faithfully in the future i as I think I may claim to have done in the past. • • Believe me, Gentlemen, .'■*•" Your most obedient servant, 10.18.' ~ -A.AYERS.
