WAIMAKARIRI HARBOR BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of this Board was held on Monday evening. Present —Mr Blackwell (in the chair), Messrs Bekersley, Denton, Moore, and Mathews. IN o excuse was received from the chairman. A letter was read from Messrs Langdown and 00., asking to lease the wharf opposite their store. Consideration deferred till next meeting. The clerk reported the receipts to be £4 19s during the months, the credit balance was £7212s Gd. Mr Moore drew attention to the banks of silt which prevented vessels getting to_ the wharves. Mr Moore moved the suspension of the standing orders, to propose the following motion : —“ That the secretary be requested to write to write to the Kaiapoi Borough Council, asking tho Council it it will take over the functions and property at present vested in the Waimakariri Harbor Board, with a view to improving the navigation of the river, and on receipt of the reply call a special meeting of the Harbor Board to consider the same.” Mr Eokersley said he did not agree with the motion being brought forward without notice and left the Chamber. The motion was unanimously agreed to. The Board then adjourned.
