Serious floods have occurred at Dalby, in the Darling district. During the stormy weather at Charters Towers, a mining township in the county of Dalrymple, a Catholic church was blown down. SYDNEY, August 28. T, For the champion sculling race tomorrow Trickett is still the favorite. NEWCASTLE, August 28. The miners of the Lambton colliery have been locked out, having adopted the new scheme. The company are procuring men from England. MELBOURNE, August 28. Arrived—Rotorua, from the Bluff. At a caucus meeting it was resolved to remit the customs duties to the amount of £60,000 and impose duties on stamps to the same amount. Mr Berry, in the Assembly, proposed stamp duties to the amount of £70,000, and to rescind the 10 per centum duty on hardware and the duty on drugs, and to reduce that on soft goods by £25,000. At the sales of stud sheep to-day the prices realised wore very low. Only a few merinos were offered.
