It is authoritatively announced that the finding of the court-martial on Lieut. Carey exonerates him from blame in connection with the death of the Prince Imperial. He retains full rank. LONDON, August 21. Three per cent. Consuls 97£. The total reserve in notes and bullion at the Bank of England is £21,500,000. At the wool sales to-day there was a good demand; 868 bales were withdrawn. Lieut. Carey has arrived. Ho denies having had charge of a reconnoitering party when the Prince Imperial was killed. BERLIN, August 21. A bitter controversy has taken place between the German and Russian press, in consequence of a letter published at St. Petersburg accusing the Prussian authorities of advocating the isolation of Russia from the rest of Europe. ST. PETERSBURG, August 21. The sentence of death, passed on five Nihilists, at Odessa, has been commuted to penal servitude in the Siberian mines.
