PBt Tkieghaph.] LPBE PEEga AGENOY.I WELLINGTON, July 30. The Government organs say that when the Governor asks the Premier as to who among the Opposition he shall send for, Sir George Grey will not recommend except an immediate granting of a dissolution as the best for the social and political we’fare of the colony. The Government have requested Sir Julius Vogel either to sever his oHici:j 1 connection with the colony or to resign his post as director of the New Zealand Land and Agricultural Co., on the ground that both positions are incompatible. [PKOM OUE OWN COEEBSPONDENT.] In the correspondence laid on the table by the Premier between the Government and Sir Julius Vogel, the latter states in the first letter that he has accepted the post of director of tho New Zealand Land and Agricultural Company. The Premier, in reply, says the A gent-Generalship and the post of director of the company are incompatible, and calls on Sir Julius Vogel to accept tho alternative of resigning one or the other. - The amendment moved by Mr Hislop yesterday and his speech thereon were intended to fill up the time to tho half-past five adjournment, to enable the Premier to speak at half-jmst seven. Many of Sir G. Grey’s supporters condemned the course adopted by Messrs Hisl ip_ and Eees as undignified and as w.‘sting the time of the House, as Sir G. Grey could have made his speech immediately after thcdivision took place.
