CANTERBURY COURSING CLUB.
PRESIDENT’S MEETING. The coursing for the President’s Cnp was finished early on Saturday, on Mr Minchin’a run at Sheffield. Thera were only three courses to come off to finish the ties, and the victory fell to Mr Konayns, with Kathleen and Camellia, the ■winner and runner up being Onmaru dogs. Mr W. G. Walker’s Reflection at one time appeared likely to carry off the prize, or share the victory as runner up, but unfortunately^the gruelling course she ran the previous evening, in which she beat Chang, caused her to go lame, and deprived her of any chance against Kathleen. There is no donbt that throughout the whole meeting all the dogs that were entered were fairly tested on their merits as to speed, endurance, and working power, which they never were before in the Parks, through the limited area of the ground and the abundance of cover. Thare was literally no cover at Sheffield, and every course was a veritable race between the hare and the dogs, the hare giving her pursuers all their work to do. The winner of the Cnp, Kathleen, was trained by Mr Kelt, of Oamarn, and Camellia by Mr Bird, and Reflection and Spring by Mr J. H. Ayton, all the dogs coming on to the coursing ground in tip-top condition. The following is the result of the ties : SECOND TIES. Reflection heat Chang Spring beat John Kathleen beat Gazelle Camellia ran a bye. THIRD TIES. Kathleen heat Reflection Camellia beat Spring FINAL Tllf. Mr Ronayne’s f w b Camellia, by Red Kail— Dauntless, and the same owner’s b w b Kathleen, by Geelong Comet —Queen Death, divided the stakes.
