REPORT OF THE TAUPO COMMISSION.

WELLINGTON, June 22. The report of the Koyal Commission appointed to enquire into the loss of the Taupo censures the Harbormaster for allowing the buoy to remain where it was washed by the sea, a considerable distance from where it ought to have been; but Captain Cromarty is condemned because the wreck was not caused by the removal of the buoy, as ho had never seen it in any other place. Therefore he was not misled. At the same time, had the buoy been in its proper place, it could not have failed to attract the attention of the captain to the danger, and he could not have reached the place where the Taupo struck without actually passinglinsido the buoy. The Marine Department is entirely acquitted of blame, no report having been made as to the buoy having shifted.
