POPULAR AMUSEMENT ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the committee of the above was held yes'erday at 4 p m. Present—Messrs Ollivier (chairman), Alport, Hebden, Mitchell, Walkden, and Raskins. The Chairman said that the interview with tho Domain Board had fallen through. It would bo as well if he made another appointment with Mr Barman, the same oommittee to wait on the Board to ask the aid of the Board in the construction of the bridge to the Domain. He might, while on this subject, express his opinion that an application should be made to the Selwyn County Couueii iov a grant in aid of the improvement of access to the recreation ground in Hagley Park. Mr Mitchell moved—" That an application be made to the Selwyn Council for a grant in aid of the access to tho recreation ground in Hagloy Park." Mr Walkden. seconded tug motioaj whteh was

It was also resolvod— "■ That the chairman apply for an interview with the Domain Board as to a permanent fence, and that the same committee wait on it." Mr Alport, treasurer, said that the balance at the Bank was 3s 7d. Mr Walkden said the ground was in a bad state from the water. He had had the pipe of the well cut off sons to prevent the boys turning the water on over the ground. He thought the centre part should be ploughed over and sown •with grass, also the terrace sown down, and levelled nicely. . . Mr Hebden thought the course required -Widening from ten to twenty feet, and he would also, like to see the terrace converted into steps like seats with boards, which would put a atop to the dust kicked up a 3 was the case last year fey people tramping up and down. Mr Walkden was afraid that if they went spending money on widening the course and cutting terraces they would rave no money left for the bridge, which wa3 a necessity. The Chairman said that what was wanted was a bridge as strong as a cart bridge, wh.'ch would cost at least £SOO. . Mr Walkden said they required the bridge to be such as to carry cart traffic when required, because the Park was just the place to deposit the street sweepings, which would fill up the sand holes. Mr Hebden would move—" That the ground committee have power to widen the running track by ten to plough up and sow down the centre of tho enclosure." The Chairman thought that ihey should defer the resolution of Mr Hebden until they had seen tho Domain Board. Mr Walkden did not agree with the widening of the track so much as ten feet. They would have now to cart ashes, which was most expensive at the present time. He thought the matter should be postponed until they had a further meeting. After some further diecussion, Mr Hebden agreed to give notice of motion for next met ting of committee, after the interview with the Domain Board. The meeting then adjourned.
