The barque Canny Scot, from Newcastle, was signalled when our despatch left Port to-day, and two barques coming in from the southward. The ss. Albion, Captain Tozer, arrived this merning from Wellington en route to South and Melbourne, whence she will leave this morning. The brigantine Sea Bird put in here yesterday, bound to Timsru from Greymouth. She left Greymouth May 29th, and experienced similar weather to that reported by the Mary Bannatyno. In a gale on June sth the Sea Bird had her galley washed overboard, and one of her crew met with an accident in which one of his legs was Mary Bannatyne, Captain Smith, with a fnll cargo of coal, left the Grey river May 29th. Book’s Point was passed on the 31st with an easterly wind, increasing to a gale and continuing for twenty-six honrs. The weather then moderated and light variable winds prevailed to making Cape Farewell Jnne 4th. The Minna Bell and Sea Bird were then in company with the schooner, and a heavy gale frem the E.S.E. sprang up. Hove the schooner to for forty-eight hours. Through the Straits had light winds, and on June 13th spoke the Sea Bird in Cloudy Bay, who reported the loss of the galley overboard, and an accident to one of the seamen whose leg had been broken. From Cloudy Bay northerly winds continued to arrival in port. _ _ The barqnentine Swallow, Messrs P, Cunningham and Co., agents, is on the berth for Auckland direct, to be despatched about Monday next. _____ AEEIYAL OF THE EED GAUNLETT. The ship Eed Gauntlet, Captain Bowie, arrived this morning from London, She is consigned to the New Zealand Shipping Company, and has a fnll cargo of general merchandise and thirteen passengers as per memoranda above. On May 3ist the ship being between this coast and Tasmania, it blowing a gale from the E.N.E., the maintopmast gave away and broke off at the mainmast head. In falling the mainyard was carried, the whole of the wreck falling overboard. The Red Gauntlet has been 132 days on the passage, eighteen days of which were spent in the Channel and thirteen days along the coast since sighting the Snares. No accident to life occurred, nor sickness during the voyage, and, considering the loss of time in getting out the Channel, and the disadvantage of having but a fore and mizen-mast on which to carry sail since the date of the accident, she may be credited with having made a fair passage.
