THEATRE ROYAL.
There will ho an entiroehange in (ho bill at the Theatre Royal to-night, when the performance will be for the benefit of Mr George Darrell. A most attractive performance is advertised, consisting, in tho first place, of a play from the pen of the beneficiare, entitled “The Struggle for Freedom,” in which both Mr and Mrs Darrell will appear, supported by the full strength of the company. In the course of the drama, Mr Darrell will sing the patriotic song, “ Here Stands a Post,” for tho first time in Christchurch. After the play a series of allegorical tsbleaux will be shown, and Miss Solango Novaro will sing a selection of national songs in illustration of them, the whole terminating with Mr Barry O’Neil in a fresh selection of songs. No doubt Mr Darrell’s ability, both as an actor, author, aud enterprising manager, will be recognised by tho presence of a full house, especially as it is his last appearance in Christchurch for some time.
