WADDINGTON SCHOOL.

Tho prizes were distributed to the cholars attending the Waddington school on Wedncsdiy, June 11th, In the absence of Mr McMillan, chairman of the committee, Dr. Meadows, at the request of the members of the committee, awarded the prizes. Ho complimented tho prize-takers, and gave a word or two of encouragement to the unsuccessful competitors. The following were the first and second prize-takers in each class Standard V.—l, Serena Heigh way ; 2, R=ubcn Heighway. Standard IY—l, Kate Rossiter ; 2, John Bentley. Standard lII—I, William Johnson; 2, James Barr, Standard ll.—l, William Graham ; 2, Robert Nidd. Standard 1. 1, Edward Adkin ; 2, Edith Ann Jobson. Below Standard I—l, Elannagan, Minnie ; 2, Bryden, Jane. Mr McMillan came into the room in time to address a few words to tho children. Ho also urged upon the parents the necessity of sending the children more regularly, as neither tho children nor the teacher had a fair chance when the former were kept at homo. Mr Wallace and Mr Lilly spoke to the same effect. James W. Newbcgin, one of the senior boys in the •ohool, thanked the committee on behalf of tho other children, for their kindness in providing the money for the prizes. It may bo stated that all the children below Standard I. received a gift of a small book, as a slight sneouragomont to further efforts.
