The monthly meeting of this Board was held on Monday. Preamt—Messrs G. H. Wearing (chairman), Eckersley, Moore, Blackwell, Threlkeld, and Denton. Letters were read from tho Deputy Commissioner of land tax, forwarding forms notifying tho assessed value of the Board’s property. From Mr R. Woodford, asking for extension of time in which to complete the work of sotting up tho machinery on tho dredge. The time was extended a fortnight. From tho overseer of tho dredge, reporting that the brasses and link pins of the buckets did not fit. Mr Eckersley referred to the unsatisfactory way in which, in his opinion, Scott Bros, had furnished the machinery, and moved—“ That Scott Bros, be requested to send a man to correct the errors in the brasses and link pins, as well as other portions of the machinery.” Mr Blackwell excused Scott Bros., on tho ground that they had been unable to overtake all the work they had undertaken. Tho Chairman stated that twenty-five per cent, of the amount of the contract for iron work was still in hand. The motion was agreed to. It was decided that tho engine selection committee be allowed till next month to send in their report. Accounts, £2 Is 6d, were passed. On the motion of Mr Moore, seconded by Mr Eckersley, Mr 0. E. Dudley was appointed secretary to the Board at a salary of £l2 a year. An offer of a boat and chain from Mr Linklater for £4 10s was referred to the engine committee. The Board then adjourned.
