THE STAFF OF LIFE.

To the Editor of the Globe. Sib, —Judging by tbe low rate at which bakers can get flour at present, one naturally expects to get the amount of bread he pays for ; but such is uot the case. Having occasion to get some last week, I went to three different shops for it, and, on coining homo, weighed it, when, to my astonishment, I found the first 20z., the second l£oz , and the third 3£oz. short, or, on an average, 2oz. all round, which, in a largo family, comes to something enormous in a month. When one looks at the present scarcity, both of labor and of money, and the place brer i fills in a poor man’s family, ho earnestly hopes that such dishonest practices onithe part of bakers will be put a stop to. Yours, &0., A Victim.
