CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB.
An adjourned general mooting of the above was held at the Commercial Hotel, on Tuesday Present—Messrs Lance (chairman), Wynn Williams, J. Studholme, Perring, Boyle, E. D. Thomas, Captain Clogstoun, W. Eoeves, Dr. Prankish, T. Acland, F. Kimbell, E. C. Maxwell, Hon. W. Eobinson, C. P. Barker, W. F. Neilson, Gh Gk Stead, E. W. Delamain, E. Gh Griffith, Gh Lee, E. W. Millett, J. Birch. The draft programme, as drawn up by tho committee, was brought up and passed. The programme is much the Bame as last year, with the following alterations : —The Maiden Plate and Plying Stakes are omitted, while the Weloome Stakes, a two-year-old sweepstake of 200 Bovs., hag been inserted. The Chairman stated that a letter had been received from his Excellency Sir Hercules Eobinson, intimating his willingness to become the Eatron of the cmb. Mr Stoad thon moved ia resolution—-" That the maximum weight in any handicap bo nine stone fire pounds." This was seconded by Hon. W. Eobinson, Mr Lance, Dr. Frankish, Mr Beeves spoke at some length against the resolution ; Mr Stead and Hon. W. Eobinson in its favor. The resolution was lost by twelve votes to six. Hon. W. Robinson moved—" That in a dead heat the riders of the horses running off draw for places again." Dr. Prankish seconded the resolution, which was, after some discussion, carried. Hon. W. Eobinson called attention to the delay caused by waiting for the winning jockey to bo woighed in first. In reference to this a letter was read from Mr S. Garforth, the clerk of tho scales, but no resolution was arrived at in connection with the matter.
