SYDNEY EXHIBITION.

The usual weekly meeting of the local committee in connection with the Sydney Exhibition was held in the Chamber of Commerce yesterday afternoon. Present —Messrs Turner (in the chair), P. Cunningham, L. E. Nathan, and J. A. Bird (hon. secretary). The Secretary stated that he had received the following applications for space since the last meeting : —Messrs Austin and Kirk, for pottery ; T. H. Snowdon, for rubber stamps ; Duncan and Son, for seeds 5 E. H. Banks, for seeds ; S. Manning and Co., for beer and malt; Ward and Co., for beer and malt; and from E. M. Mein, for preserved provisions. Mr Bird said ho had waited on Mr Strouts with the object of having a model of the new agricultural colloge. Mr Strouts had stated that ho shonld not have time to make the model himself, but he would bo very glad to superintend in, if any other person could bo found to make it. The Chairman did not think that the model in question would bo of much importance if it were made. Mr Bird had thought it would bo an excellent, exhibit. The matter then dropped. Some discussion then took place on the subject of tho pictorial scenery that was to be sent, embracing views of Canterbury. After some conversation it was reqolved that a sub-committee should endeavour to meet the sub-coramiitoe of the museum on the subject'of the contributions which it was expected would be lent by that institution. It was stated by the secretary that a good many people who promised to exhibit had not yet senr in applications for space. He mentioned the names of Messrs Sandstein > Petersen and Co., Proctor, and others. The committee resolved to use strenuous efforts to emiud ttu<se gentlemen that the sooner they made application the better.

Aft.or some further observations of a desultory character, the meeting adjourued. The following memorandum has been received by tho secretary : Parliament Buildings, Wellington, 6th May, 1879. The New Zealand Co'.iiuiissiouers for the Sydney International Exhibition having the lower flat of the St. George's Hall, Ltimbton Quay, as a depot for tho reception and packing of articles for Sydney, would earnestly beg of all intending exhibitors to sen 1 n their exhibits at the earliest possible date, so as to enable the Commissioners to adopt a sehc e for tho organiz ition of the New Ze laud Court. All particulars, together with forms of implication for space, and the various schedules of articles to be received, will at ouco be forwarded upon application to the local committees throughout the colony, or to the_ secretary to the Commission, Parliament Buildings, Wellington. By order of the Commission. James Hectok, Executive Commissioner. Dr. Hector also forwarded copy of a departmental catalogue, printed in Sydney, on the subject of the Exhibition.
