WELLINGTON, May 10. Councillor G. Allen has been elected Mayor pro tern. There will be a keen contest for the Mayoralty. Four colliers arrived this morning, bringing 3000 tons of coal, which was running very short.

Joseph Jamison and Wm. Creighton were committed for trial this morning for stealing jewellery from a dwelling-house. Both men seemed very respectable, and were employed at the Phoenix Foundry.
