The Londonderry standard states that Mr C. H. DuVal, one of the best of English ventriloquists, is about to pay a visit to the Australian Colonies and New Zealand. Mr Henry Neville proposes, it is said, producing Zola’s “ L’Assommoir ” at the Olympic. Mme. Sarah Bernhard, the actress, has published a volume on her captive balloon ascents. The magnificent new theatre at Monaco has been opened. Sarah Bernhardt, Carvalho, Capoul, Judic and Francesci Bruce (the great tenor) took part in the opening performance. It is reported that Madame Nilsson will be engaged to sing in the “Franqoiso de Rimini ” of M, Ambroise Thomas, and also in the new opera on which M. Gounod is at present engaged. On the occasion of the coming Shakspeare Festival, at Stratford-on-Avon, Barry Sullivan has been selected to play “ Hamlet.” Messrs Hurst and Blackett will publish during the presout month “The Youth of Queen Elizabeth,” edited from the Freneh of M, Louis Wiesener by Charlotte M. Yonge, author of “ The Heir of Reddyffe,” &c.
