The Annie Hill for Eockhampton, and Olio for Waitapu, sailed this morning. It was found necessary to strengthen the moorings of the vessels lying at the wharves yesterday morning. There was not much wind, but the “ big range,” which found its way into the bay—the distant effects of a heavy northerly gale outside—rendered that precaution advisable. In the afternoon the swell had greatly subsided. A Sunderland built iron barque, the Lorraine, but two years old, arrived on Saturday from Wellington to load for London on behalf of the [New Zealand Shipping Company. Her carrying capacity is registered 828 tons, and she is in command of Captain Grousund, who reports having left Wellington on Thursday afternoon. Had northerly winds to Kaikoura, was becalmed there until Saturday morning, when she came in with a light northerly wind.
