Masteeton, April 5. Station Property. Mr Waterhouse, who has gone to Nipior, has bought a station there for £ 55,000, which carries as many sheep as Wangaroa, which he recently sold at nearly three times that amount. Wellington, April 5. The Governor. The Governor and a small private party will visit Wairarapa to-day by special train, and will spend a few days shooting there next week. Lady Robinson’s reception was largely attended by both ladies ard gentlemen. The Money Market. The stringency of the money market here still continues to be very much felt in business circles. It is stated that during the past day or two, an eminent mercantile firm Imre was desirous of getting an advance of £3O 000 and offered securities to the amount of .£BO,OOO, and it was only after considerable difficulty that accommodation was obtained. Auckland, Aprils. A stoker of an engine has been killed on the Kaiapara railway by a water tank falling on top of him while watering his engine. His back was broken, and ha died in a few hours. A man called Hill, for forgery of a promissory note for twenty-three pounds, purporting to he drawn by Cunningham, hotcd-keeper, has been been committed for trial. At the Hoard of Education to-day, J. M. Clarke was elected representative on the Board of Governors. The Germ n residents give a ball on Monday to the officers of the German warship Albatross. The subscriptions to the Kaitangata fund exceed <£ooo. The final meeting will be held next Wednesday, when the amount is expected to exceed .£IOOO. Hokitika, April 5. Mr Pitta’ body was found on Thursday afternoon in Canoe Creek, twenty miles north of Greymouth and forty from where the accident occurred. The inspection of the Volunteers occupied Major Withers Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. He expressed himself highly satisfied. Fnrly this morning the house of Mr C. McKinnon was destroyed by fire. Insurance, .£285 in the Norwich Union. The house was worth much more.
