Wentworth, the latter from Newcastle and the former from Greymouth, arrived this morning ; and the barquentine Prince Alfred from Kaipara. The steamers Wanaka and Wanganui arrived to-day from Northern ports. They will both leave this afternoon for the South. The barque Victoria, Captain Shimmins, sailed for Newcastle this morning. The fact that the steamer Hinemoa (says a Dunedin contemporary) touchoi the bar when visiting the port of Otago has been communicated to the Harbor Boaid, and in reply the Board have advised the Government to instruct i laptain Fairchild to avail himself of tho services of a pilot when entering Port Chalmers, in which case the Board express their confidence that the bar at the heads will not present any difficulty in the way of the Hinemoa. The barque Southern Cross, Captain Boon, arrived early on Saturday morning from Hobart Town, after a passage of fourteen days. Bhe met with S.E. winds for the first two days, cleared the land on the 17th, and had southerly and westerly winds, moderate and freßh, to Stewart's Island, which was sighted on the ninth day out, March 24th. Had a N.E. wind for forty-eight hours, and then fresh B.S.W. wind along the coast. The barque Pet was at Hobart Town when the Southern Cross left. The Mary Blair was to follow the latter vessel for this port. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Bluff, March 31. The Arawata left Melbourne at 6.40 p.m. on the 26th. She experienced strong easterly and then westerly winds to arrival. She briugs the Suez mail, 24 saloon, 33 steerage, 311 tons cargo, and 10 cows, for all ports. She arrived at 7 a.m., and sails at 4.30 p.m. for Duuedin. Passengers—Saloon: Misses Hurst and Tynan, Mrs Hawkins, Mr Orohard, Mr and Mrs Hurst, and 6 steerage.
