[bbutbb’s telegrams.] Melbourne, March 27. The Suez mail papers advise the following English departures for New Zealand ports between the first and fourteenth of February: —The Olceno for Napier; the Columbus for Dunedin ; the Stad Haarlem and Westland for Otago; the Glendorey for Wellington ; the Red Gauntlet for Canterbury ; the Weymouth for Auckland. [special to thb globe.] The pugilists have eluded the Victorian police. There is excitement in Melbourne, and there will be a searching enquiry. A well equipped expedition, under Baron Maclay apd Chevalier Bruno, sailed to-day for New Guinea. Three police inspectors have perished in the Queensland hush. A great fire at Newcastle has destroyed seven stores and hotels. The insurance companies’ losses are heavy.
