Interprovincial Prize Firing

[By Telegraph.] Nelson, March 11. The eighteenth match was commenced this morning, and concluded just Before dinner. The ranges were 200, 400, and 500 yards. The winners are, Okey, 71 ; Turner, 77 ; Purnell, 70 ; McCarthy, 74 ; Keller, Coventry, Jack, and Willocks, 713 each ; Downie, Ghffit s, Marshall Mclntosh, Hutchinson, 72 each ; Kogers, Smith, 13oss, Hunter, Waucrh, Sergeant Ballinger, Kennedy, VV. Ballinger, and Richardson, 71 each ; Davis, Paynter, and several others, 70 each; all the rest close up. This was the hottest match jet fired. Thirty-nine fired in the Consolation Match. The winners are, Nicholson, 70; Hill, 69; Lins'rora, 67 ; Gray, C 5 ; Stone, 65; Johnston, 64; Houston, 64 ; McCarthy, 64; James, 61; Fair, 63 : Sutton, 63 ; Jenkins, 63. The rapidity match commenced soon after dinner and was got through with very well. Instead of the competitors going up to examine their targets and returning to the firing point before tho next squad, as at the old colonial prize firing, the volunteers sit in the butts and take the scores. The scores in the ninth and tenth matches which complete the ' championship matches, could not be made up until to-day. Some of the men did not give in their certificates of parades, which had to he added to the scores. Fortunately the champion and a few of the highest scorers did so, and their scores were not affected, but in the ninth match two men, who would have taken medium prizes had they given up their certificates in time, lost their prizes. The prize list stands thus for the ninth match, with parade added :—Morris, 105 ; Monk, 104 ; Okey, 104; Mills, 101; Hood, 101; Harding, 101; Willcocks, 99; G. Miller, 99 ; Ballinger, 99 ; Weir, 99; Richardson, 98 ; A addel, 98 ; Hutchison, 97 ; Keller, 97 ; W. Ballinger, 97; J. Miller, 97; Sergeant Ballinger, 97; Marshall, 96; Smith, 96 ; Davis, 96 ; McCarthy, 96 ; Best, 95; King, 95. The tenth match scores were Gordon, 101 ; Armstrong, 97 ; Bowden, 96 ; Mapp, 96 ; Pell, 94; Ross. 94; Jack, 94; Somerville, 92: Thomas, 91 ; Bannister, 90; Coleman, 90; Woolly, 90. _ The rapidity firing match finished with the following result: —Armstrong, 15 shots, score 38; Anderson, 15 shots, score 35 ; Wilson 15 shots, score 34; Thomas, 14 shots, score 34 ; Burns, la shots, score 34 ; Ross, 15 shots, score 32 : Leigh, 15 shots, score 32. In firing off this Wilson made 25, Burn* 24, Thomas 20. The nineteenth colonsolation match was taken at the conclusion of the rapidity match. The two small-bore matches are not considered to affect the championship, and as these are the only two remaining on tho programme, they have been left to the last, as they will necessitate a change of targets.
