Duxbnry. This meeting was held on the course at Birdling’s Flat on 21st instant. The course selected, part of the bed of the Lake, was in excellent order, and the races were started with commendable punctuality. A large number of the Peninsula residents turned out to see the sports. r J he fields were fairly filled and ,the events were well contested.

The following are the results : Sapling Stakes— -A sweepstake, with 10 sovs added from the funds ; for all two-year-old horses the bona fide property of residents in the district ; second horse to save his stakes ; entrance, 2 sovs, to go to the fund ; distance, about five furlongs. Mr Shadbolt’a Blue Ribbon 7st 41b (W. Shadboltl 1 Mr J. Johnson’s Flirt, Bst ... (Bradley) 2 Mr J. Dusbury’s No Name, Bst 11b (A. Shadbolt) 3

This was a good race between the first and second horses, Flirt being only a length behind the winner. No Name was out of it from the first.

Maiden Plate of 10 sovs, for all horses the bona fide prope'ty of residents in the district ; horses only that have never won an advertied race; entrance, 20s; weight for age; distance about a mile and a half ; second horse to save his stakes. A pulilic meeting wa held at Love’s hotel, on Thursday, 20th, to arrange about alterations made in the printed programme. Mr Reynolds was voted to the chair. It was proposed by Mr J. Hack Race - District; and that to the conditions relating to nominations and acceptance foes be added : excepting in the Oxford Stakes and L-.dies’ Purse, where half the nomination foe goes to the race fund and half to the stakes.’ ” After considerable discussion, the resolution was carried. (t was resolved that the tussocks be cut off the course, and that Mr Dobson be requested to see it done ; and, also, that the saddling paddock be cleared and repaired. It was proposed by Mr Kernohan, and seconded by Mr Paul, “ That Messrs J. Pearson, jun., Reynolds, and Dobson be a committee to have the course, hardies, &e., put in order in time for the races.”

Mr Rees proposed, and Mr J. Mullins seconded, and it was carried, “ That the right of all booths, sports, &c., be sold by Mr Mardon, on Thursday, March 13th, at 3 p.m., at Gilchrist s hotel. Proposed by Mr Rees, seconded by Mr J. Pea. son, jun., and carried, “ Lhao the confectioners’, right of sports, and correct cards of the races bo advertised in the daily papers to bo sold on Monday, 10th. March, nt 3 p.m., at Gilchrist’s hotel.” A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the meeting. DUNEDIN TRAINING MITES. [By Telegraph ] [from ouh own correspondent.] Dunedin, February 22. _ Catts was first out this morning with his soli tary charge, Mata, who was sent the Cup distance alone. He went in very good sty'e, showing no signs of his rumoured lameness, and compassing the last two miles in 3min. 58secs. Camballo started alone at a mile, and picked up Huntingdon and further on Eversley, the List named bringing the Cup horse home fast. The two miles traversed by Camballo occupied 3min. 56secs. The Agent did two miles steady. Dundee and Adamant went twice round at half speed. Fishhook did a_ good gallop, _ starting in company with Sapphira. He was joined at hnlf-a-milo by Laertes, and the chesnut mare soon afterwards dropping oat, the two elder horses continued till the bay had done the Cup distance, by which time Laertes was a long way in the rear. Fishhook’s time for the last two miles was 3min 54secs. Te Whetu andPenella, the filly in clothing, were sent twice round. Nemo, Foul Flay, and Mario Antoinette, all looking very fresh and well bad a quiet canter, and Milo was treated similarly. Maritana and Templeton went a mile and a half at threequarters speed. Sinking Fund was sent ha'f a mil** slow, and was then joined by Titania, the pair finishing another mi.e fast. Chancellor had a quiet canter alone, and this about finished the morning’s work, for a he ivy shower of rain set in, which drove away the horses, trainers, and spectators alike. Several more horses were on the ground, but were thus prevented from working. _____
