The barques Sunbeam and Signal cleaved at the Customs yesterday for Newcastle. The schooner Josephine, Captain Donovan, will load for Auckland and the Thames. The three-masted iron-built schooner Jasper, ot Mr C. W. Turner’s line, sailed yesterday monii'g at five o’clock for Newcastle. There was too much aea on to adjust her compasses by swinging her as intended. „ . . The Italy, barque, 286 tons, Captain Brown, entered out at the Customs, Hobart Town, on the sth inst., for this port. The barque Victoria, Captain Shimmins, was to follow the Italy. The schooner Nerval. Captain Mackenzie, is loading at Peacock’s Wharf for Auckland. Her agent, Mr Geo. Mackay, announces her to leave on Tuesday next. The Union Company s steamers Hawea and Wan aka are due to-morrow, the former from Port Chalmers en route to Auckland, and the latter from Wellington for the South. The barque Vindex put out the last of her cargo yesterday, as did also the Sunbeam and brigantine Ada C. Owen. The barque Canny Scott was towed in by the Titan and berthed in the Sunbeam’s place at No. 3. The Gorman barque M arie will discharge the remainder of the Lyttelton portion of her cargo from the Mauritius this morning. She will go to Port Chalmers with the Dunedin portion. The brig Argos yesterday morning put out the first of herlcargo of timber. Several piles 86 feet in length were discharged. The barque Florence was towed into the stream last night by tho Lyttelton ready to clear and take her departure for London to-day. The ship Durant Bay, which arrived at Melbourne on tho 31st nit., from Boston, experienced a very heavy gale nine days after leaving the latter port. The barometer recorded 28 50, and the full fury of the gale lasted for sixteen hours, during which time, the vessel lay helpless in the water, the sails having been blown out of the gaskets, and the water reaching as far as the combings of the main hatch. There was at one time four feet of water in the cabin. A heavy sea washed tho carpenter, a Swede, named Gustav, overboard, and injured several of the seamen. The deck cargo was jettisoned. The s.s. Easby, Captain Anderson, arrived at Melbourne on the Ist inst., from Newcastle, with 1700 tons coal. The three-masted schooner John Watson, reached Newcastle on the 31st ult. from here. The barque Australian Sovereign and the brigantine Circe were taking in timber for this port on Saturday last. The Southland “News ” says their cargoes were coming forward very slowly. The s.s. Eingarooma, Captain Chatfield, arrived yesterday morning nt half-past nine o’clock, from Port Chalmers, Bluff, Hobart Town, and Melbourne with passengers and cargo, as per memoranda above She left Sandridge Eailway Pier at 4 <lO p.m. on the 4th inst,; cleared Port Phillip Heads at 8.10 p.m.; passed Swan Island at 245 p.m. next day, and arrived at Hobart Town at 10 a.m. on the 6th; took in cargo and left at 7 p.m.; experienced dense fogs and ismooth water until the 9th inst., when a strong S.W. breeze sprang up, and the weather cleared ; passed tho Solanders at 1.30 a.m. on the 10th; and arrived at the Bluff at 8.30 a.m. Bame day; discharged cargo, and left at 4.40 p.m.; arrived at Port Chalmers ot 5.20 a.m. on the 11th; sailed the following day at 3.30 p.m.; had easterly winds ns far ns Timara, thence S. and S.W. winds ; discharged 30 tons of cargo, took in 20 tans, and sailed for Wellington yesterday, at 3.30 p.m., with eight passengers booked here. ENGLISH SHIPPING. Auckland, February 13. Arrived —December 11, Duke of Argylo ; December 13, Columbus. Sailed—December 14, G. V. B. This vessel subsequontly pat into Lisbon dismasted.
