Co.’s Ringarooma arrived at 10 o’clock this morning from Melbourne via Sonth, with passengers as above named. She sails for Wellington this afternoon. The Jasper sailed at 5 o’clock this morning for Newcastle, and the brig Drover for the Bluff. The vessels in harbor are gaily docked with bunting, doing honor to His Excellency, who leaves by the Ringarooma this afternoon. The barque Mary Ann Annison was at Jackson’s Bay, on the West Coast, taking in a load of timber for this port, when the steamer Maori called there on the 3rd instant. The schooner Shepherdess, Captain Leer, arrived yesterday, from Picton, whence she loft on Sunday last. The schooner T. B. Taylor, Captain Smith, left Wanganui on Saturday last, had light northerly winds to Kaikoura, thence S.W. and S.E. winds to arrival yesterday. The barque Florence, Captain Honston, took aboard the last of her cargo for London, yesterday. Mr C. Chilman, of H. M. Customs, yesterday, received a telegram from the Bluff, stating that the N.Z.S. o’s ship Hnruuni had arrived off the port, and was awaiting a fair wind to come in. A grand display of hunting was yesterday made among the vessels in port, in honor of the Governor’s arrival. The U.S S. Co.’s Arawata arrived yesterday morning at seven o’clock, from Wellington, whence she sailed at .3.30 p.m. on Tuesday. She brought sixty-one saloon passengers for Lyttelton, including his Excellency the Governor and suite. After discbarging twenty tons of cargo and taking in thirty tons, she sailed at 4 p.m. for Port Chalmers. Bluff, and Melbourne with fifty original passengers, and eight booked here. The Union Company’s fine steamer Wakatipn, Captain Wheeler, arrived at noon yesterday, from Port Chalmers, whence she left on Tuesday, at 5.20 p.m. She discharged thirty tons of cargo, shipped thirty tons and sailed at five o’clock last evening, with thirty-six passengers hooked here. The schooner Onward, Captain Joss, arrived as above. She left Kenepnru with a cargo of timber on the 7th ; came to anchor in Guard’s Bay the next day, stayed there until eleven o’clock same day. and sailed with a light N.E. wind. Passed the Brothers’ light at 11 p.m., and Cape Campbell at 5 a.m. on the 9th. At six o’clock same morning observed the wreck of the Sonthminster had parted amidships, the mainmast was standing, and a portion of the poop deck and after frame of the forepart of the vessel were visible above the water. Had a strong wind and heavy sea until the evening of the 10th. Spoke the schooner Endeavour of Dunedin at 6 p.m., bound from Pelorua Sound to Oamaru with timber. On Tuesday morning last when the clouds lifted off the Kaikoura mountains, the latter appeared white with snow, almost half way down their sides. The same day had light southerly wind, veering round at 4 p.m. to the eastward. The schooner Jo ephine arrived yesterday morning from Thames with a cargo of timber consigned to Messrs Montgomery and Co. Captain Donovan reports leaving there on the 30th nit. with a strong breeze from the westward, which next day increased to a gale ; passed the East Cape on the 2nd iust.. wind N.; next day had a stiff gale from S.W., and anchored under Cape Kidnappers. Left on the sth, and on the following day encountered heavy gale from the N.W., afterwards choppingronnd to the S.W., and causing a high sea which several times broke over the vessel. The wind moderated on February 7th, and on February 9th passed Cape Palliser; was there overtaken by a gale from the N.N.W.; the sea broke across the vessel and smashed her bulwarks. Sighted tbe Kaikonra at 9 p.m., and an hour later tbe wind shifted to S.W. On tbe the 10th at lOn.m. a sea came aboard over the port bow, and washed away the fore-scuttle, stove in the cabooze, and filled tbe cabin and the forecastle. The vessel was all but swamped by it. Two hours after tbe weather had become quite moderate, and continued so until reaching the port. The steamer Maori arrived on Tuesday night from Nelson, the West Coast ports and Sounds. She left Port Chalmers at 3 p.m. on the 31st, had strong head winds to the Bluff, and arrived at 10 a.m. on the Ist; left at half-past 10, and reached Preservation Inlet at midnight. Left there the following morning at C o’clock, and arrived at Dusky S und copper mine at 1.30 p.m.; left at 3.30, and arrived at Martin’s Bay, the south end, where cargo was discharged. Proceeded to Big Bay, but there found too rongh a sea to attempt to communicate with the shore, so steamed to Jackson’s Bay, arriving at 3.15 p.m. on the 3rd. The barque Mary Ann Annison was there taking in a cargo of timber for Lyttelton. After staying 21 honrs, the steamer sailed for Hokitika, arrived on the sth, and took in passengers and mails at Waipara ; left at 7.30, and arrived at the Grey at 10.15 p.m,; left for Westport at 11 a.m. on the Bth, and arrived there at 9.30 p.m.; sailed the same night, and arrived at Nelson at 7.30 on the 10th ; left at half-past 10, and had strong head winds and sea to the Peninsula, thence moderate to arrival. She sailed for Timaru and Port Chalmers at 5 p.m. yesterday. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Onehunga, February 12. Arrived—Amaranth, schooner, from Lyttelton. Wallabi, from Wanganui. A telegram states that the Hero leaves Melbourne on the 18th. Bluff, February 12. Sailed—Albion Co.’s ship Jessie Roadman, Kennedy, for London, with a cargo of wool, meats, wheat, and tallow, valued at £90,000. Auckland, February 12. The schooner Christina sailed to-night for Ngungaru, where she loads 47,000 feet sawn timber for Lyttelton. Auckland, February 13. The Australia arrived at 10 this morning. Passengers for Now Zealand—Saloon: Mr A. Stuart, Mrs Stuart, and Miss Stnart, Messrs H. Scotland, J. Lee, Smith, Clayton, Mrs Saul, and seven in the steerage.
