CRICKET.
At the close of the interprovincial match, on Tuesday, os a day and a half was still left before our visitors would leave for Dunedin, the question arose as to how the time could be best employed, bearing in mind the fact that, in the intorestsof the lookers-on and the players themselves, it was desirable that as exciting a game as possible should bo started. Tlie Dunedin men, notwithstanding that they saw themselves considerably overmatched, very kindly undertook to play the same sides over again, thus giving to the match all the character of an iuterprovineial one. The result proved that the Simon-Pure match was a very fair criterion of the relative values of the two teams. The strangers were again beaten in one innings. The Canterbury score was within three of what they made in the real match, the exact scores being in the second match 160, in the real match 163. The Otagonians match 59 and 69, as against 77 and 74 in the real. Wo append the full
