HARBOR BOARD.

A special meeting of the Harbor Board wm held at the Provincial Council Chambers this morning. Present Hon. E. Richardson, Messrs P. Cunningham, H. Sawtell, H. Allwright, H. P. Murray-Aynsley. R. T, Q-. Harman, and C. W. Turner. ohaieman’s statement. The Chairman said that he had called a special meeting that day to lay before the Board the plans prepared by the engineer for the graying dock. There were now before them eleven large drawings, corresponding with the general plan, and the engineer, Mr Bell, was present to afford any information that might be necessary. He had drawn a resolution on the subject with some care, and he would lay it before them. The Board would also be asked to consider the question of office accommodation for the Board. Mr Harman moved—'“ That the Board adopt the detail plans of the graving dock as now submitted by their engineer, and direct that they be forwarded to Wellington, and, when doing so, that the chairman should request that his Excellency’s approval be asked in such a form as will allow the Board to make such alterations by way of depth of water on the sill of the dock as may h# found possible.” Mr H. P. M. Aynsley seconded the motion, which was agreed to. OFFICE ACCOMMODATION. The chairman said that the next question was as to the office accommodation for the Board in Christchurch. After some discussion, the matter was postponed. HAEBOK STATISTICS. The following report was read from the harbor master Harbor Office, Lyttelton, February 6th, g IR _x have the honor to forward for your information the number of vessels and their regiftered tonnage that have entered the port of Lyttelton during the month ef January, 1879: thirty seven steamers, 13,832 tons; nine English and foreign trading vessels, 5807 tons ; eleven inter-colomal, 2713; sixty-fire coasting, 4315 tons. Total, 122 vessels of the aggregate tonnage of 213,6G7. I have, &c., H. McLedlan, Harbor Master. Secretary Lyttelton Harbor Board. THE NEW WIIAEI. The Chairman said that the engineer had informed him that the rails would be laid on the now wharf now being constructed by Langdown and Co., certainly within a fortnight. [Hear, hear.] The Board then adjourned.
