POST OFFICE NOTICES
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations; — SATURDAY, JANUARY 11. For the Chatham Islands, per Omaha, at 11 a.m. For Al;area and Otago, per Taupe, at 11.20 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.35 a.m.; late letter box, guard’s van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Northern Ports and Australian Colonics, per Easby, at 1.50 p.m.; date fee letters, 2.10 p.m. ; late letter box, guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern ports, per Wanaka, at 3.50 p.m.; late foe letters, 3.35 p.m.; late letter-box, guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Southampton and Brindisi, will close at this office on January 15th. The mail via Southampton will be due in London on March 17th, and the mail via Brindisi on March 10th, 1879. Supple nieniary mails will be despatched overland to Fort Chalmers, per express train, on Thursday, IGth January. . The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will close at this office on January 31st, mid will be duo in London on March 18th. SYDNEY J. DICK. Chief Postmontor.
