Co.’s Arawata arrived at eight o clock this morning, and will leave for she north at 5 p.m. The brigaucino Sarah and Mary was loading at Greymouth for Lyttelton on the 2nd iust. , The Examiner left Greymouth on the 2nd iust., and the Circe yesterday for this port. The last of the inward cargo per Hydaspes will be blocked oil to-morrow. An instalment of several hundred tons o£ her outwards freight has already been shipped. „ The master of the Charles Deenug cautious persons against giving credit to anyone belonging to that vessel or harboring any of her seamen. The steamer Star of tuei South felt Greymouth on the 2nd Bocember, Westport the following day, and arrived at Wellington at 2 a.m. on Sunday; left Wellington at 7 p.m. Monday, and reached the heads on Tuesday night at 7 o’clock. Reports fane weather throughout. The pressure on the wharf accommodation made it impossible to afford the steamer a berth at which to discharge her coal today, so she took it on with her South, whence she flailed yesterday at 5 p.m. The Wellington Regatta Committee has issued a programme, comprising in all thirteen events, to ho competed for on the 22nd instant. Of this number no less than nine are pulling races, the remainder being made up by two yacht races, an open boat Bailing race, and one of twenty miles distance for coasting vessels. No provision has been made lor a race for model yachts, and tho committee have taken a new departure in drafting the programme by omitting to name tho prizes they purpose 8 Taft Saturday’s “Wellington Post” says:— “In consequence of tho largo extension of the Union Steamship’s business, tho directors have come to tho determination to establish a separate agency in Wellington, and Mr James Mills, the Head Manager, is expected to arrive in Y ellmgton within the next few days, for the purpose of making the necessary arrangements for transferring the agency from Messrs Levin and Co., by whom hitherto it has been most efficiently and satisfactorily conducted, to the now local manager, who, it is understood, will bo Mr Bavid Mills. The rumor which has found currency to tho effect that it was the intention of the company to remove their head-quarters to this port, is entirely without foundation.” Apropos of this change, we learn that Mr B. Mills will leave Lyttelton the coming week for tho Empire City, or upon the arrival of Mr Robert Piifflett. the Union Company’s representative at Hawke’s Bay, who is to succeed him new arrangements with reference to the Union Steamship Company’s boats are as follows; The Melbourne and New Zealand service will be performed by the Ringnrooma, Arawata, Albion, Claud Hamilton, Rotorua, and Tararua, the last two running alternately in the Sydney service with the Wakatipn, but going by way of Auckland, instead of direct from Wellington as tho Wakatipn will continue to ruu. The main East Coast service will be carried on by tho Hawoa, Taupe, and Wanaka, and that to and from Pictou Nelson, Taranaki, and Manukan by the Wellington and Taiaroa alternately. The Maori will continue to conduct the service round the South Island, the Waitaki that between Bnnedm and Oarnaru, and the Beautiful Star that to Timaru.
