Royse, Stead and Co, agents. The steamer Albion, with sixty passengers, for Lyttelton, and twenty-four for South and Melbourne, arrived from Wellington at seven o clock this moruiug. Besides her ordinary freight she brought an Aucklaud-built boat, the Toy, to run in the open boats' sailing race next Wednesday. The Albion sailed for Melbourne at one o clock this afternoon, and the s.s. Easby for Dunedin, with original passengers. An active demand for fireworks has been experienced on board the ships in port. The preparations for a fine illuiniuation in the haruor are proceeding with considerable show. The six large ehipi at the Gladstone pier are making ready for a grand display, and from present appearances the fireworks exhibition to-morrow night will be unexceptionable. The steamship Easby arrived from Sydney, via Wellington, yesterday, at noon. She had in all fifty-eight passengers, twenty of whom got to their destination at Lyttelton; the remainder proceed with her South at noon to-day. rhe left Sydney at 8.20 a.m. on the 20th with light easterly winds, which continued for two days, giving way to a thirty-six hours' gale from the north, with high sea. Made Cape Farewell at 2 p.m. on the 26th, and arrived at Wellington at six o'clock on Friday morning. Left there at 1 p.m. on Saturday; had dirty weather and strong wind from the N.W. coming through the Straits. The s.s. Taupo arrived from Port Chalmers at 8.30 !a.m. on Saturday, having left there at 2 p.m. the day before. Her trip up was marked by strong head winds, acompankd by a very rough sea. fcince her last visit, Mr Garrard, her then chiif officer, has been given the command of the Beautiful Star, and Mr Holmes, a veteran in the coastal steam service, succeeds him. Captain Jones, late of the Be ratirnl Star, has been it is said, to the Ladybird. The Taupo leit for Auckland, via East Coast, at half-past eight on Saturday night. The reuular trader frmce Alfred, with a full load of timber, from Kaipara, arrived early on Saturday. She left there un the 23rd instant; passed Cape Eg nout on the morning of the 25th, the Brothers on the following day, the light winds from the north of the previous two days having much increased; at 1.30 a.m. on the 27th was off Cape Campbell, acd at noon off Kaikoura, the wind being very violent from the N.N.W.; the gale lasted to within five miles of making the Heads; thence extremely light until arrival. The barque Sunbeam was to have completed loading on the 2Gth, and the Rhoderick Dhu about the same date. The Maud Graham was also on the berth for this port. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
